ARTIST STATEMENT

Sculpture has always been a passion of mine, ever since one of my first attempts at sculptural work, when the spine of a clay figure I was shaping seemed to emerge under my fingers as if on its own.

My art is an act of self-mythologization. It stems from a constant pursuit of balance between opposites: the divine and the carnal, emptiness and excess, chaos and calm.

The main themes of my practice are the manifestations of female physicality, which I explore through the figurative nature of my work, alongside an introspective analysis of mental health issues, self-identification, and interpersonal relationships. By employing religious and spiritual motifs, I examine the individual's conscience, reasons, and values. And while my art is primarily inward-focused, I often incorporate elements of nature into my sculptures as a reminder that the world extends far beyond the boundaries of one's own skin.
